Description
“Wonder City” was a term used to describe a number of American and European metropolises as early as the late 19th century. By 1914, it featured in a souvenir booklet about New York City. The City’s growth during this period inspired a profusion of travel posters designed to bring visitors here; this exhibit collects a number of those posters, examining how NYC was portrayed to new arrivals and the outside world.
