In seasons past you've referenced a California mind-set and the planet Endor, as well as uniforms and uniformity. What inspired you this season?
Patrik Ervell:
I was thinking about the aesthetic of sailing, but the way sailing looks now—extremely technical, bonded fabrics, joined seams, sailcloth, white nylon and such.
You've introduced womenswear to your collections relatively recently. Do you prefer one over the other?
PE:
Menswear is definitely my home. The women's collection is still pretty firmly rooted in a menswear point of view.
What brought you to show during Made Fashion Week?
PE:
I love working with Made. They have an amazing setup and they make doing a show as stress-free as possible.
You're based in New York City. What qualities do you find inspiring about NYC?
PE:
The amazing mix, the crashing together of high and low. There is no other city that does that as well as New York.
Do you have any recommendations for any of the City's shops?
PE:
Stop by Opening Ceremony, at 35 Howard St., to take a look at the collection. Then have a bite to eat at
, just across the street.
