A water truck sprays water onto a road in a dry, desert landscape under a partly cloudy sky. The scene shows arid vegetation and distant mountains beside the highway.

Description

This fall, MoMA PS1 and the Museum of Modern Art present the first-ever US survey of Mexican artist Teresa Margolles, famous for her large-scale works that explore transnational violence, specifically what has taken place at the US-Mexico border. Included in the exhibition are several room-sized installations and a site-specific commission, plus sculptures, photographs and video made over the past three decades. The centerpiece of it all is titled La promesa—a barrier made from rubble belonging to a home abandoned by a family in Mexico. MoMA is concurrently presenting its own related exhibition starting on September 17.
