1
Antica Pesa
1
115 Berry St.
A sister restaurant to Rome’s Antica Pesa (which has been in operation since 1922), this Williamsburg outpost focuses on traditional Roman dishes made with local, seasonal and organic products. Imported meats and cheeses make for great starters, but the restaurant is better known for its pasta, including the always-in-season spaghetti cacio e pepe.

2
Barano
2
26 Broadway
Named for a tiny island town near Naples, Barano brings southern Italian staples to Brooklyn in the form of hickory-smoked mozzarella, whole branzino and handmade ricotta tortelli. Pizza, grilled vegetables and a hefty spread of antipasto are also well worth ordering.
3
Benchmark Restaurant
3
339A 2nd St.
A romantic outdoor garden leads into the rustic brick dining room of this Park Slope steakhouse. On the table, appetizers like seared scallops and a peach and burrata salad set the stage for entrées such as chile-dusted Chatham cod and grass-fed filet mignon.

4
Buttermilk Channel
4
524 Court St.
Unsurprisingly, buttermilk fried chicken is a pillar of this Carroll Gardens standby. The duck meatloaf is another fan favorite, with lighter but equally comforting dishes like veggie lasagna and pan-roasted black bass rounding out the menu.

5
French Louie
5
320 Atlantic Ave.
This Boerum Hill bistro from the Buttermilk Channel team specializes in French-American fare that’s elegant yet unpretentious. Look for dishes like steak frites, moules frites and chicken paillard, and save room for a big slice of chocolate gateau to end the meal on a sweet note.

6
Greenhouse Cafe
6
7717 Third Ave.
Complete with a back garden and atrium, this Bay Ridge favorite is equally fit to host a special event or a midweek meal. The atmosphere is festive, with karaoke or live music often accompanying Italian-leaning, traditional dishes like penne alla vodka and shrimp scampi.

7
Leuca
7
111 N. 12th St.
Chef Andrew Carmellini leads the kitchen at this southern Italian restaurant inside Williamsburg’s William Vale hotel. Pastas, including ribboned malfadini and squid-ink shells, are a good bet—and the seafood, whether tuna crudo, sea bass tartare or grilled local bass, is also a worthy option.
8
The Osprey
8
1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge
Magnificent views of the East River are just part of the appeal at the Osprey, a restaurant located in the swanky 1 Hotel in Dumbo. Chef Michael Oliver’s menu is an equally strong draw, featuring skirt steak, lemon herb chicken and branzino entrées. The spacious outdoor seating adds to the dining experience.

9
Yellow Magnolia Café
9
Brooklyn Botanic Garden
This greenhouse-set restaurant offers views of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden along with a fresh, veggie-centric menu. Try the ancient grain bowl with wild rice, spicy greens and avocado while looking out on the garden’s Lily Pool Terrace. Grass-fed burgers or fried chicken with habanero honey will satisfy more carnivorous diners. Garden admission is required to dine here.
All the restaurants above are participants in this summer’s NYC Restaurant Week, which runs July 22–August 16. See the full list of participating restaurants and book your tables starting July 9.
