A person with a red backpack enters a gallery with large windows covered in many small, colorful photos. The gallery sign reads "A.I.R. SOA P P" and the building exterior is concrete with a black railing.
A contemporary art gallery with white walls displays colorful paintings, mixed-media sculptures, and wall-mounted artworks. An old TV on the floor shows a black-and-white image of a person. The space features exposed ducts and track lighting.
A gallery room displays three large abstract black and white paintings on white walls, with track lighting above and a partially unfinished wooden parquet floor.

Description

A.I.R (Artists in Residence, Inc.) has deep roots in New York contemporary gallery scene. Not only was it one of Soho's very first galleries when it opened in 1972, but it was also one of the first artist-run, nonprofit dedicated to women artists in the United States. A.I.R has moved numerous times over the years—from Soho to Chelsea to its current Dumbo home—but it's always kept its feminist focus, expanding that to include non-binary artists.
