Lehmann Maupin a été ouvert par les peintres Rachel Lehmann et David Maupin en 1996, lorsqu’il était situé à SoHo. Elle a déménagé à Chelsea en 2002. Les artistes représentés ici travaillent dans la peinture, la sculpture, la photographie, la vidéo et les nouveaux médias, et ont inclus Tracey Emin, Do Ho Suh, Hernan Bas et Suling Wang.
