Harlem School of the Arts
Description
It began in 1964 as a series of piano classes taught by soprano Dorothy Maynor to benefit neighborhood children who had no other outlet for creative expression. Now 3,000 students attend Harlem School of the Arts for dance, music, theater and visual arts every year.
