Jamaican Flavors

Description

Bringing a taste of Jamaica in the Caribbean to Jamaica in Queens, this no-frills joint knocks out authentic patties (hand-sized flaky pastries) and West Indian dishes to go. Made in the traditional way—hand grinding meats with garden vegetables and tropical seasonings—the patties are crammed with beef, jerk or curry chicken, callaloo (stewed leafy greens) and other fillings. There are also popular Jamaican dishes like oxtail, curry goat, sweet chili shrimp and jerk chicken with rice and peas, plus freshly baked coco bread. It’s all served from a takeout window.
