KyoChon, already popular in Queens and really, really popular in Korea (the chain has roughly 1,000 stores) has staked a claim in Manhattan. What's the appeal? Twice-fried, supercrisp chicken with soy-garlic sauce or hot sauce that's so good it pretty much ruins you for any other kind of fried chicken. It's served in a bright, cheerful, contemporary space, with counter service on the ground floor and full service upstairs. There are also salads, rice balls, sandwiches and vegetable sides.
