Must-See Week /Coney Island Museum
Several vintage postcards and a hand fan with an illustration of a house are displayed on a white surface. The postcards feature beach scenes and people near the ocean, evoking a nostalgic, summery feel.
A museum exhibit features vintage carnival signs, framed photos, documents, and memorabilia displayed on blue and red walls above glass display cases. One sign reads “Fare 10¢” and another shows yellow shooting gallery targets.
A display case holds realistic wax mannequin heads and hands, some with tears and expressive faces, alongside vintage tickets and museum labels in a brightly lit exhibit.
A museum hallway with red walls leads to an exhibit area featuring a display case, framed artwork, and a large sign titled "Thrill Amusements." In the background, colorful carnival masks and posters are visible.
Two vintage carousel horse figures are displayed indoors in front of vertical striped curtains, one painted brightly with jewels and the other in faded, worn paint.

Step back in time and experience the thrills and wonder of Coney Island. From antique carousel horses to vintage hand-painted signs, and recovered architectural elements to antique photos and memorabilia, the Coney Island Museum celebrates the ingenuity, tenacity, and inclusiveness that has defined the birthplace of American popular culture for more than a century. Check out their collection of mid-century funhouse mirrors (great for selfies) or sit back and watch old-time black-and-white reels. In addition to the permanent collection, the Museum also hosts special exhibitions and lectures on Coney Island's history and impact, and its archives are available as a critical resource to researching scholars. The history, nostalgia, and fun of the People’s Playground is always on exhibit at the Coney Island Museum.
