KGB Bar
Description
The only bar in Manhattan well-read enough to publish its own literary journal, KGB Bar has been giving writers a place to read their work, meet other wordsmiths and (most importantly) drink since 1993. Almost every night of the week, the bar hosts readings, with themes as diverse as poetry, fantastic fiction or writing by sex workers. The bar's soviet kitsch theme reflects the space's history: it used to be a covert meeting place for Ukrainian socialists.
