The Wren

Description

More of a bar with food than a restaurant with a bar, The Wren has Irish proclivities thanks to Mark and Simon Gibson, the Dubliner brothers who are also behind Wilfie & Nell and Sweet Afton. They attract a young, noisy, good-looking crowd of people who start with a few beers and then realize it would behoove them to order a pint of prawns before having another pint of beer. The gastropub-style food is actually very good, with well-chosen cheese and meat boards, fish-and-chips and a bowl of cauliflower made delicious by frying the florets in Aleppo pepper sauce. The cocktail program is creative and wine is wisely served in tumblers, limiting damage when knocked by an elbow.
