Bushwig Drag Festival Photos

Photographs by Vincent Tullo 10/1/2018Updated 10/16/2019

In the 1980s and ’90s, downtown drag festival Wigstock, starring Lady Bunny, RuPaul and other famed queens of the night, helped move the art form of gender transformation into the mainstream. Since 2012, Brooklyn-born Bushwig has been pushing the boundaries of drag in new directions. Set in a sprawling warehouse (actually on the Queens side of the Brooklyn-Queens border) the weekend after Labor Day, this two-day party features performances, dancing and lots of creative dress-up with a focus on up-and-comers from the City’s nightlife scene. Click through our gallery to check out some of the fabulous, shocking and out-there looks from the 2018 edition.
