Downtown Flushing is a bustling spot, full of shops, restaurants and pedestrian traffic. But there are lots of places in the area for peace and greenery, mainly in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. It has its own attractions, including a few museums, recreational areas and leftovers from the two world's fairs that were held here.

The vast green space features many attractions, including remnants from the world’s fairs like the towers from the New York Pavilion.

Peruse the Displays at Queens Museum

Known for its to-scale NYC model, The Panorama of the City of New York, the museum has an extensive world’s fair repository and hosts exhibits spotlighting local artists.

Enjoy the Flora at Queens Botanical Garden

This plant-filled landscape has a rose garden, an oak allee, a bee garden and the sensory-heightening Fragrance Walk.

Attend a Mets Game

The Amazins’, as they are known, have a handful of stars, a cool stadium and a long history as the City’s underdog baseball team.

Visit the New World Mall

Full of Asian shops, markets and food stalls, New World Mall is a glassy indoor spot that’s great for an inexpensive meal.

See a Show at Flushing Town Hall

The performing arts center hosts jazz jams, world music concerts and the occasional art exhibition.

Hang Out at Queens Night Market

On Saturdays from April to October, the Night Market hosts food vendors on the grounds of the New York Hall of Science.

Eat at a Local Chinese Restaurant

Eight Jane is one of many spots in the neighborhood where you can get authentic Asian cuisine—in this case, jianbing guozi, or savory crepes—at affordable prices.

Snap a Pic at the Unisphere

This giant globe is the symbol of the borough, erected for the 1964–65 World’s Fair.

Take in Downtown Flushing

Wander along the main avenue and browse the fruit and vegetable stands.

Do an Ollie at Maloof Skate Park

Near a fountain, this large space provides a hangout to watch skateboarders or bring your own deck to show off a trick or two.

Try the Street Food

Street food throughout Queens is top-notch; in Flushing, you’ll find delicious noodles, roast meats, steamed rice rolls and whole lot more.

Take the Family to Queens Zoo

A manageable spot for animal watching, the Queens Zoo has a noted aviary and breeds Andean bears.

Attend the US Open

In late summer, the top US tennis tournament takes place in Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. A family-friendly fan week precedes the competition.
