Midtown Moments
At first glance nearly everything in Midtown Manhattan seems oversized, whether you’re gazing up at the neighborhood’s towering glass skyscrapers or visiting its renowned attractions. Take Grand Central: the beaux-arts transit terminal is one of the world’s largest, accommodating some 700,000 people daily. Or the New York Public Library, built with 530,000 cubic feet of marble and containing 125 miles of shelving. Then there’s the block-long Diamond District, whose thousands of businesses bring in nearly $25 billion per year.
