A Tribe Called Quest Mural

Description

This mural holds court on the street the legendary Queens-born hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest made famous through their songs—and the locale’s connection goes even deeper than Linden Boulevard (represent, represent): The laundromat upon which the mural is painted is where Tribe filmed their Check the Rhime music video. Mural artist Vince Ballentine was commissioned to create the piece—which pictures group members Kamaal “Q-Tip” Fareed, Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White—shortly after Phife’s death in 2016. We think the funky diabetic would approve.
