Alley Pond Park

Description

This 657-acre public park, the second largest in Queens, lies on a terminal moraine—a ridge of rock and sand formed by a glacier more than 15,000 years ago. Officially opened as a city park in 1935, it includes nature trails, tulip trees, massive oaks, a bird sanctuary, playing fields, bridle paths, dog runs, fishing areas, a Picnic Grove, tennis courts and a soccer field.
