One of several spots in the south end of the park devoted exclusively to children’s play (alongside Heckscher Playground and Ballfield), the Chess & Checkers House offers an outdoor space for children to play those board games at large, concrete chess and checkerboards. Pieces for the games may be rented out for $2 a set.
