The Central Library is more than just a place to read books—its 189-seat auditorium, the Dr. S. Stevan Dweck Cultural Center, hosts readings, films, concerts, classes and more nearly every day of the week. A heaping helping of Brooklyn pride colors many of the expertly curated happenings—from a panel on female comic book artists in Brooklyn to a "Brooklyn Sings" concert featuring local musician Barbara King. But events go beyond the local, covering everything from magic to Mexican modernist art.
