Fillmore East

Out of Business

Description

Please note: this business is now closed; nycgo.com keeps record of many old and closed venues. First known as the Village Theater, the Fillmore East was originally a Yiddish playhouse, then a cinema, and then, when rock promoter Bill Graham took over the helm in the 1960s, it became known as the “Church of Rock and Roll.” Bands that performed there included the Doors, the Grateful Dead and the Who.
