Lucille Lortel Theatre

Description

As New York’s premier Off-Broadway playhouse since 1955, the Lucille Lortel Theatre has hosted everything from Shakespeare to Langston Hughes to Catch-22. It is renowned for its productions, but offers much, much more. Before entering, stop on Christopher Street and glance down at New York’s only permanent monument to its theater writers: the Playwrights’ Sidewalk, dedicated in 1998, features stars honoring those whose work has been performed Off-Broadway.
