Plumb Beach

Description

Named for the beach plums indigenous to the area, Plumb Beach (often misspelled as Plum Beach) is a small inlet near Sheepshead Bay, off the Belt Parkway. Beloved by area windsurfers and kiteboarders for its surfable waves, the beach is also a site where, during the high tides of new and full moons in May and June, female horseshoe crabs—with males in tow—lay their eggs in the sand along the shore.
