New York City's equine hobbyists, serious enthusiasts and those new to the sport need look no further than the Bronx—yes, the Bronx—to find a place to saddle up and ride. This hidden gem, which underwent serious renovations in 2014 when new concessionaires Scott and Elizabeth Tarter took over—pouring some $250,000 into its beautification—sits on 23 sprawling acres. Private and group lessons are offered, as well as summer camps and after-school programs aimed at elevating the skill levels of young riders. Jumping lessons and dressage instruction are also available for those committed to more formal instruction.
