Midtown West

The Paris Theatre

Description

This jewel of a movie theater—positioned right across the street from the famed Plaza Hotel and just a few blocks from Central Park in glittering Midtown—is the type of place you’d imagine old-school movie icons like Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall going on a date. It’s classy, it’s quaint and it’s got a great balcony with shockingly comfortable seats. Having celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2008, the 586-seat theater—which maintains its policy of showing only one film each week—is a quintessential New York landmark. Here’s to hoping it’ll be around for at least 60 more years.
