Tompkinsville Park

Description

This vestpocket park—set in the bustling center of Tompkinsville—offers visitors space to rest, relax and take in some greenery amid one of the neighborhood’s busiest areas. The beneficiary of a $1.3 million renovation in 2007, the park now boasts clocks, a fountain and newly updated benches. The statue presiding over the park, The Hiker, honors soldiers who fought in the Spanish-American War. It was moved to the park back in 1925, after being repeatedly hit by automobiles at its original location, in front of Staten Island Borough Hall.
