A fotógrafa americana Anne Brigman foi pioneira na arte feminista, bem antes da frase entrar em voga. Brigman deixou sua marca com suas imagens paisagísticas do início dos anos 1900, fotografando ela mesma e outras mulheres nuas na Serra Nevada. Mais de 100 de suas obras estão em exposição na Grey Art Gallery da NYU.
