Founded in Florence in 1221, this Italian line carries luxe perfumes and beauty products made from ancient recipes concocted by Dominican friars who hand mixed their ingredients (think: bugs, herbs, spices and medicinal elixirs). During the Renaissance period the monks created an Acqua Della Regina for Catherine de’ Medici who was to wed King Henry II, using alcohol as a base ingredient, as well as bergamot and aromatic spices. That scent is still available today, as is the popular spicy potpourri, crafted the old-school way (in terra-cotta vats), and the refreshing rose water. This location is the exclusive US distributor of Santa Maria Novella products.
