default
Julie Besonen

Publicado 07/16/2018

Altesi Downtown nyc

1
Altesi Downtown

200 Spring St.

This modern sidewalk café sticks to traditional ideas of Italian food and hospitality. Braised meatballs, Roman-style fried artichokes and chicken parmigiana are standouts. Long ovals of thin-crust pizza are wood-fired and blissful. Open all day, it’s also a lovely place to unwind in the afternoon with a negroni.

David Burke Kitchen, pineapple carpaccio, tuna tartare

David Burke Kitchen

The James New York

Opt for a table in The Garden, the restaurant’s casual outdoor aerie. David Burke, a celebrity chef and restaurateur, is especially known for whimsical, imaginative desserts like a cheesecake lollipop tree for two. For savory courses, consider chicken wings with soy chili glaze, roast pork tamale, and sea scallops with grilled baby corn.

The Dutch Restaurant

3
The Dutch

131 Sullivan St.

Little oyster sandwiches, hot fried chicken with honey butter biscuits and wild halibut with rice noodles and peanuts are among the many pleasures at this smart, inviting American brasserie. Desserts—homemade pie, ice cream sandwiches and the like—are also delightful, helping make the Dutch another winner from the deft team of Andrew Carmellini, Josh Pickard and Luke Ostrom (Locanda Verde, Lafayette).

Il Mulino Prime

331 West Broadway

Ernest Hemingway quotes are stenciled on the white walls of this airy Italian restaurant, where specialties include prime cuts of rib eye and filet mignon. Begin with classics such as jumbo shrimp cocktail and caprese salad. Silky pasta dishes include short rib ravioli and linguine with clam sauce.

Dining room restaurant interior at Lure Fishbar in Manhattan

5
Lure Fishbar

142 Mercer St.

The glossy teak woodwork and portholes make Lure Fishbar feel like the galley of a luxury ship. A dizzying choice of riches from the sea includes fresh oysters and clams, sushi rolls, lobster bisque, sesame crusted tuna salad, tempura shrimp, grilled mahi mahi tacos and classic fish and chips. The wine, Scotch and bourbon list is also tremendous.

Pera Soho

54 Thompson St.

The roomy garden patio here is one of the most pleasant places in Soho to relax, umbrellas shading patrons from the sun. The indoor dining room is earth-toned and stylish. Mediterranean food inspired by Istanbul includes fig and goat cheese flatbread, Turkish manti (mini beef dumplings), stuffed eggplant and grilled lamb chops.

Food from Osteria Piemonte

7
San Carlo Osteria Piemonte

90 Thompson St.

In nice weather San Carlo’s French doors are thrown open, creating a breezy indoor-outdoor ambience. The cozy, romantic spot features regional Italian favorites like vitello tonnato and spaghetti alla chitarra with black garlic and spicy bread crumbs. The extensive wine list goes beyond Piemonte with fine choices from Tuscany, Lombardy and Sicily.
