A Gallery Leo Castelli foi inaugurada na East 77th Street em 1957 e, desde então, tem sido o lugar da arte americana pós-guerra, apresentando principalmente arte Pop, minimalista e conceitual. A galeria se moveu um pouco nos anos subsequentes, ocupando espaço no Soho apenas para voltar ao mesmo quarteirão da East 77th Street onde foi inaugurada. Os artistas cujas obras foram exibidas na Castelli incluem Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns e Robert Rauschenberg.
