Krystal’s Café & Pastry Shop may look like your average corner bakery from the outside, but those who’ve stepped inside the doors know that much more awaits diners than meets the eye. The Filipino staple is a Woodside, Queens, favorite known for traditional favorites like lechon kawali (deep-fried pork belly), sisig (a dish of minced meats and onions), tocilog (fried bacon, egg and rice) and mechado (braised beef). Desserts include ube cake, buko pie and all other sorts of cakes, cookies and pies. A buffet lunch special is offered on weekends, so you can sample all of these goodies at once.
