Morgenstern’s on the Lower East Side attempts to set itself apart from other ice cream shops by focusing on what it calls “texture-driven small-batch ice creams.” Owner Nicholas Morgenstern worked as a pastry chef in the City before deciding to open his namesake parlor dishing out the creamy delights. Morgenstern himself develops the recipes and chooses the ingredients, “with the flavor profile in mind first.” Ice cream flavors include malted chocolate, banana agave, green tea pistachio, lemon espresso, black coconut ash and bourbon vanilla.
