A modern, stylish restaurant interior with black chairs and wooden tables, set with glasses and small vases. Large windows let in natural light, and decorative plants and bananas are visible in the background.
A white plate with a green vegetable dish, featuring broccolini, snap peas, leafy greens, sliced almonds, and a smooth green puree, set on a wooden table with a dark background.
A white bowl contains thin ribbons of colorful root vegetables, like carrots and radishes, garnished with fresh herb sprigs and set on a wooden surface.
A hand uses metal tweezers to place an edible flower garnish on an orange cocktail in a stemmed glass, set against a dark background.
A glass of amber-colored cocktail with a large ice cube and a twist of lemon peel sits on a wooden surface against a dark background.
A gourmet dish featuring a leafy green wrap filled with a mixture, topped with fresh herbs and flowers, sits on a light gray plate with a creamy sauce beneath, against a dark, minimal background.

Description

Mexican inspired rather than straightforward Mexican describes the innovative, vibrant dishes at Enrique Olvera's Cosme. This Flatiron District venue manages to be both casual and top-drawer thanks to its savvy chef, who trained at the Culinary Institute of America and knows what New Yorkers like. Olvera, who has the critically acclaimed restaurant Pujol in Mexico City plus a few others in Mexico, sources the best chilies, heirloom beans and corn from his native country and looks to local purveyors for meat, fish and seasonal produce. There are roughly 130 seats spread out over the ample bar area and back dining room and a 14-seat private room for parties.
