Beatnic evolved from vegan cookbook author and social media star Chloe Coscarelli's fast-casual restaurant, By Chloe. This Greenwich Village space is chic and airy, with ordering done at the counter. Seating is first come, first served. Everything is plant based, from soups, salads and sandwiches to cookies, pastries, ice cream and, of course, cupcakes. The guac burger is particularly satisfying, a patty of quinoa, sweet potatoes and black beans topped with corn salsa, guacamole and chipotle aioli. Even the fries here are better for you, air-baked rather than fried, and paired with beet ketchup.
