Bell Book & Candle

Description

An enchanting underground hangout, Bell Book & Candle offers an appealing American menu featuring crab cakes, fried oysters and grilled hanger steak. The patty-melt sandwich oozes with aged cheddar and pickles made from cucumbers grown in the restaurant's rooftop aeroponic garden. Roughly 60% of chef John Mooney's produce is harvested from the (nearly) year-round plot and hauled down by a carbon-neutral pulley system. Lettuce doesn't come fresher than this. And, yes, the restaurant was named for the 1958 romantic comedy starring Kim Novak and James Stewart.
