Description

In Hindi, "bhojan" translates as a home-style meal that's hearty and satisfying. Such is the case here, especially if you're vegetarian and kosher. Bhojan is even Jain-friendly (the Jains follow a vegan diet, but root vegetables are not allowed). Owner Shiva Natarajan has the popular restaurant Dhaba nearby, as well as several others in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The cuisine, based on recipes from Punjab, in the north of India, and Gujarat, in the west, comprises small plates, street-cart snacks, sweets, lassi drinks and platters of thali—a multicourse meal divided into small bowls. The restaurant has a modern, stylish design, with lanterns tucked into wall nooks and a soothing, burbling fountain.
