Bikinis

Out of Business

Description

Bikinis is tiny, a sliver of a diner styled after a Barcelona tapas bar. Owners Karina Correa and Petrit Pula dressed it up with vintage Spanish record covers, a movie poster of It's a Bikini World (note how the bellybuttons are airbrushed out) and a giant image of a young Shirley MacLaine wearing diamond-encrusted sunglasses and waving from a Pan Am jet. A young, downtown crowd piles in for happy hour and satisfying snacks like free range chicken croquettes, patatas bravas, pan-fried calamari and plates of serrano ham and manchego cheese. There are a few stools along the peach-colored bar to enjoy some cava and beer and small tables in back if you aim to stay longer. Brunch offers several bikinis (Catalan jargon for triangle-cut pressed sandwiches) and egg dishes.
