Byggyz

Out of Business

Description

This old-fashioned sandwich shop pulls some newfangled tricks—braising beef in pomegranate liquid, for instance, and layering it in a seeded semolina roll spread with creamy Duke’s mayonnaise, pickled vegetables, hot peppers and melted American cheese. It’s huge and juicy, but coheres. Byggyz (pronounced “Biggie’s”) also does twists on pork and tuna sandwiches. Dewey Dufresne is behind it; his son, Wylie Dufresne, used to run the seminal wd~50 a block away.
