Doug E.'s Fresh Chicken & Waffles

Out of Business

Description

Rapper Doug E. Fresh got famous for his talents as a human beatbox, but his Harlem eatery shows he has other skills up his sleeve. The classic fried chicken–and–waffles combo served here is a good and filling meal for under $10. Caribbean accents shine through in the jerk chicken, and there's soul in sides of cornbread, collard greens, sweet yams and macaroni and cheese. It's a loose, friendly, fast food–style hangout, with hip-hop music blasting, walls tagged with graffiti and lots of table-hopping among spirited students.
