Hail Mary

Out of Business

Description

Hail Mary is a nostalgic American diner with a wink, the vintage-clad staff dishing out eggs and hash browns, house-made Pop Tarts and bourbon banana split cocktails. A certain sophistication characterizes some items on the menu—deep-fried burrata that oozes when pierced with a fork, for instance—hinting at the backgrounds of husband and wife owners, Ham and Sohla El-Waylly. (Restaurants on their resumes include Del Posto, WD~50, Rotisserie Georgette and Empellón Cucina.) The 74-seat Greenpoint space is adorable, with floral wallpaper, cozy booths, faux Tiffany lamps and Mile-High Funfetti layer cakes on the counter.
