La Superior

Description

La Superior has street cred for pioneering the Cal-Mex taco trend in New York City back in 2008. It's a cool dive thanks to its Williamsburg environs, cheap prices, strong margaritas and tasty tacos variously filled with carne asada (grilled skirt steak), cochinita pibil (slow-cooked pork in banana leaves) and lengua (beef tongue). The torta ahogada (served at dinner) has been hailed as one of the best sandwiches in New York City, a Guadalajara classic of pork confit and refried beans stuffed in sourdough and drowned in mild tomato sauce and a dash of hot árbol. Ezquites—corn kernels laced with epazote (a leafy herb), cheese, lime and Mexican mayo—fresh-made guacamole and samplers of housemade salsa with chips also make it a superior place to get your Mexican fix.
