Description
At the basement level of a handsome brick residential building in Clinton Hill is the darling Mekelburg's Fine Foods & Craft Beer, its shelves stocked with artisanal provisions and deli cases filled with tempting charcuterie and cheese. In back is a bar and café lined with chalkboards listing sandwiches, sides and drinks, as well as showcasing cartoonish artwork. Alicia and Daniel Mekelburg and operations manager Jennifer Lee run a smart ship, their supplies and food so innovative and well thought out it's easy to imagine stopping in daily. The porchetta sandwich layered with broccoli rabe and Parmigiano-Reggiano is a standout, and salt-baked potatoes are another big draw, stuffed with slab bacon, raclette, sour cream and scallions or smoked black cod, crème fraîche, caviar and dill.
