Moku Moku

Out of Business

Description

Bushwick sister restaurants Momo Sushi Shack and Moku Moku share an entrance. Momo is a rock-and-roll-type sushi dive with low communal tables. Moku Moku is more industrial, with high bar tables, concrete flooring and a dreamlike mural of a giant octopus sporting red flowers. Tenderly braised octopus figures in the terrific tako corn dog drizzled with mayonnaise and sweet takoyaki sauce and coated in bonito flakes. Salmon pastrami, pork belly ramen and skewers of seafood, vegetables, beef and chicken are other standouts on the menu, which includes a selection of salts (shiso, citrusy yuzu, shrimp, rosemary) to heighten the flavor. Both spots offer fun, updated twists on traditional Japanese food.
