Olmsted

Description

Chef Greg Baxtrom has worked at some of the best restaurants in the world, including Spain’s Mugaritz, Chicago’s Alinea and New York’s Per Se and Blue Hill at Stone Barns. Not only that, he served for a time as the private chef for Jerry Seinfeld and his family. All of that experience informed Olmsted in his first time out as an owner. The casually handsome, 50-seat space is near Prospect Park—which was landscaped by Frederick Law Olmsted, the inspiration for the restaurant’s name. Out back is a mini-farm overseen by co-owner (and farmer) Ian Rothman. The New American menu is seasonal, featuring fresh-shucked oysters, dry-rubbed scallops with green garlic and polenta, grass-fed steak and Baxtrom’s signature carrot crepe with clams and edible sunflowers.
