Pop Art Bar + Restaurant

Out of Business

Description

While it's too tasteful to admit it, Pop Art Bar + Restaurant's gallery of art is all for sale, if the right price is met. Coincidentally, its bluestocking Upper East Side neighbors are the type that can afford a Roy Lichtenstein or a Marc Chagall. The restaurant is the culmination of Nahid De Camillis' life in the arts (an artist herself, she formerly worked at Rome's Museum of Modern Art) and interest in cooking. The menu is mostly Mediterranean—octopus carpaccio, seafood salad, fettuccine with smoked salmon, chicken Milanese—with tapas served at the bar. The decor is clean and contemporary, with lots of brushed steel and a year-round garden patio in back. The downstairs Stone Bar (partly named for De Camillis' Rolling Stones artwork) streams rock movies and videos.
