Sagar

Description

Sagar ( “ocean” in Bengali) specializes in Indian, Pakistani and especially Bangladeshi dishes. Originating as a catering business in 1996, the restaurant opened soon after, becoming an anchor of what has become “Little Bangladesh” along Hillside Avenue. Locals stop by for a typical breakfast of dal and porota (pan-fried flatbread), while dinner favorites include kacchi biryani (a rice dish slowly cooked with meat, vegetables and spices), fish curry and keema gobi (spicy cauliflower). There are plenty of Bangladeshi sweets here too. Don’t confuse it with sister restaurant Sagar Chinese two blocks up the road.
