Sen Sakana

Description

A wave of Japanese immigrants settled in Peru in the late 1800s and a benefit of that cross-cultural exchange is the fine Nikkei cuisine at Sen Sakana. The swanky, expansive Midtown space features two executive chefs, with Mina Newman handling the Peruvian side of things; Taku Nagai represents Japan. Their collaboration is seamless apropos of Japanese chicken curry empanadas, skewers of Peruvian cheese wrapped in pork belly and hamachi sushi with Peruvian green sauce.
