Simply Hooked

Out of Business

Description

Simply Hooked is a 30-seat nook on the Lower East Side purveying fish and chips with a twist or two. Restaurateur Jason Linehan and chef Matthias Leuliette rely on catches from sustainable sources and are partnered with the Lonely Whale Foundation, a nonprofit co-founded by Adrian Grenier. Choice is key here, with a selection of underused species—Atlantic pollock and wild blue catfish, for instance—to be matched with one of six coatings (dill and lime panko is the most popular) and a sauce, ranging from smoked mayo to barbecue. Furthering the theme, the wine is organic and the takeout containers are compostable.
