Description

Sensing a lack of Nordic-inspired food in New York City, two Danish men opened Smør in 2019. Their small, casual eatery has locations in the East Village and Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill; the latter is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. Start your day with a breakfast pastry, eggs, Danish pancakes or smoked salmon served with dill-scallion cream cheese on an open-face sourdough roll. Lunch includes sandwiches, platters (with smoked salmon or whitefish) and smørrebrød—smoked salmon, chicken salad or pickled herring served on house rye bread with fixings. For dinner, find dishes like trout toast, toast Skagen (Norwegian fjord shrimp salad and roe on sourdough) and sesame schnitzel.
