Sons of Thunder

Out of Business

Description

While poké, the simple Hawaiian staple, would have finally made its way to New York at some point, Sons of Thunder deserves credit for being the first restaurant to introduce it to the City. Aside from being pioneers, the eatery has gained fame for its generous cubes of super fresh ahi tuna—or salmon or octopus—marinated to perfection in shoyu, topped with hijiki and cradled by greens and avocado on a bed of rice. Vegetarians and vegans are welcome as well, and can choose from equally tasty tofu or golden beets. Though the poké is the star of the menu, the hotdogs (in standard New York varieties and bánh mì style) are also superb. Finish things off with a milkshake with an unusual strawberry and Nutella combination.
