Sushi Katsuei - Park Slope

Description

Not only do some swear this is the best sushi place in Brooklyn, some say it's number one, dollar for dollar, in New York City. Omakase (chef decides) options are $57 for sushi and $77 for sushi and sashimi, a bargain compared to Manhattan. The chefs are masterful at slicing and swaddling melt-in-your-mouth jewels of fish over vinegared rice. Service is attentive, there's a good sake selection, the fish couldn't be fresher and there are cooked options for the raw averse: salmon teriyaki, chicken katsu, tempura shrimp and vegetables. The space is bare bones and quiet, leaving you to concentrate on food and conversation.
